Tisha b’Av, the Jewish Day of Mourning

Tisha b’Av, the Jewish Day of Mourning

The Saddest Day in the Jewish Calendar

Tisha b’Av, the ninth day of the Jewish month of Av, is a fast day and a day of mourning for tragedies that occurred in Jewish history, including the destruction of the First and Second Temple, about 2,000 years ago.

Har Zion commemorates Tisha b’Av with two services: Ma’ariv and a service of mourning on Erev Tisha b’Av, and as an addition to the Morning Minyan on morning of Tisha b’Av.
