2026 Annual Refugee Shabbat

2026 Annual Refugee Shabbat

The Keovanpheng family from Laos discover America.

In the spirit of an extended Har Zion anniversary celebration, we are going back to 1983 when we sponsored the Keovanpheng family from Laos. Come hear their story, the story of what we did to support them, and how they have fared since then. Welcome Gale Liebman who, along with Hardye Glickman, led our efforts to resettle the family. Mat Keovan will be here to represent the clan. Join us to learn more of this piece our congregation’s history.

Stay for kiddush after the service, which will feature Laotian food!

The kiddush also features an in-person only Lunch and Learn on Israel presented by historian and Har Zion member Dr. Arie Zmora on “The Historical Roots of the Jewish People.”

And, for the younger set, there is also an in-person only Tot Shabbat service at 10:30am (in the preschool)!

All Har Zion main services are in person and streaming. Click here for more information, including parashat, candle lighting and havdalah, streaming information, and links to an online siddur.

If you need the password to attend by Zoom, please email (office@wsthz.org) or call (708-366-9000) the temple office during regular office hours.
