Tisha B’Av at Har Zion
Tisha b’Av, the ninth day of the Jewish month of Av, is a fast day and a day of mourning for tragedies that occurred in Jewish history, including the destruction of the First and Second Temples about 2,000 years ago.
Har Zion has two observances of Tisha B’Av:
Erev Tisha B’Av: 7pm, Wednesday, July 22: In person only; at Har Zion
- Movie: The Road Between Us
- Then a service and reading of the Eicha
The evening begins with a showing of the movie The Road Between Us (official trailer is here), a true story of a retired Israeli general and his wife as they searched across Israel for their son and his family on October 7, 2023. The movie is followed by a Ma’ariv service and reading of the Eicha (Lamentations), the book in the bible mourning the destruction of the First Temple.
Tisha B’Av Morning: 8am, Thursday, July 23: In person and Zoom; at Har Zion.
