Har Zion 75th Anniversary Celebrations
The year 2025 marks the 75th anniversary of our congregation moving into our magnificent building. (The congregation itself is decades older.) We will be celebrating the whole year, Temple member Michael Zmora has been researching Har Zion history for a year and has unearthed a treasure troven of forgotten artifacts and information about Har Zion. Michael, longtime member Len Grossman, and their committee will present what they have found during several special programs this year.
Our celebration will kick off on Saturday evening March 1, 2025, We’ll have an illustrated talk telling the story of the building of the shul, a dinner, and we will show the one hour film of the 1975 Har Zion Selichot service that was recently discovered and restored. This professionally produced film was made for WGN-TV. It features Cantor Brindell’s glorious voice along with our loft choir. There are also many shots of the kehillah in the audience, so you’ll see quite a few familiar faces.
Registration and the exact time of the program/dinner are to come. In the meantime, save this evening!
