How to Raise Monarch Butterflies
Do you want to raise monarchs in your own backyard?
Dr. Geri Fox will teach you and your children!
Why:
- Sheltering Monarch caterpillars vastly improves the survival rate of this endangered species.
- Raising Monarchs with your children is a fun science project that teaches empathy and respect for other creatures.
- Child and Butterfly Development: Appreciating Monarchs: Click here for a 6 1/2 minute video shows the development of monarchs from egg to butterfly. Learning about this process helps develop empathy in children, as well as an appreciation and respect for the beauty of our natural world, and the importance of caring for endangered species. This video may be helpful to teachers of preschoolers and grade-schoolers, as well as to families.
