An Introduction to Kabbalah
What is Kabbalah? What does it mean to be a Kabbalist? How does it relate to our daily practice of Judaism and spirituality? From the sefirot to the different worlds and levels of the soul, from the visions of the prophets to the Zohar and the Hassidic masters, Judaism’s mystical tradition has been underpinning Judaism since the freed slaves from Egypt said “yes” to God’s offer at Mt. Sinai to be a “people of priests” and a “holy nation.”
We will take a deep dive into the Kabbalah using a variety of texts from the Tanakh and the rabbinic tradition, from the prophetic experiences of the Bible to the explorations of the early rabbis, the renaissance of the medieval Kabbalists, the Tzfat revival, the ecstatic stories of the Hassidim, and the renewed Jewish spiritual vision of our times.
Rabbi Glick will teach this two part series, “An introduction to Kabbalah,” on Wednesdays, July 23 and August 20, at 6:30pm.
