Tour the Jewish Waldheim Cemetery with Har Zion member Michael Bass and with Abby Schmelling, who is the coordinator of the Jewish Waldheim—Stories and Memories Facebook page and the author of a new book about Waldheim.
Mike has arranged this event in honor of his wife, Ilene Bass z’l. Ilene was assistant director at Waldheim: she conducted tours and shared her knowledge of Waldheim for many years. The date of this tour is particularly fitting, because August 2 is Ilene’s birthday.
Har Zion has a set of plots at Waldheim; many deceased Har Zion members and their families are buried there.
Waldheim’s address is 1400 Desplaines Ave, Forest Park. It’s south of 16th Street. Use Harlem Avenue Entrance, then use Levi Road to Blue Road. Bring a chair.
