The Jews of Spain
Art historian Leslie Blacksberg on the Jews of Spain. Leslie travelled in Spain this spring and will share her experiences with us now that she is back. Her talk will intertwine the history and art of Jewish Spain, from its first blossoming in Muslim Córdoba, its second flowering under the Christians, and the dramatic downfall that led to the Expulsion in 1492.
Leslie Blacksberg holds a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania, specializing in Northern Renaissance Art. She has taught the humanities and art history at several universities. She has a long-standing interest in Jewish art and the Christian representation of Jews and Judaism.
