David Harris: Race and the Criminal Justice System

David Harris: Race and the Criminal Justice System

To fully understand the criminal justice system — its history, its operation, and its current state — we must ask what role race has played in the system. The question is historical, constitutional, and contemporary, and it brings us from the beginnings of American policing to the Civil War to George Floyd and beyond.

David Harris is a leading national authority on criminal justice and race. He has studied and written on these topics, and will take us through the issues. He is also the son of beloved congregants Ruben and Mary Harris (z”l).
