Erev Shavuot with Oak Park Temple

Erev Shavuot with Oak Park Temple

Shavout at Har Zion

As usual, Har Zion is observing Erev Shavuot with a joint, in person, program with Oak Park Temple. But it is a little different this year in that the first part of the evening’s programming is at Har Zion, then we will go across the street to Oak Park Temple to complete it.

This year, 5784, Erev Shavuot is the evening of June 11, 2024.

At Har Zion: An Evening Musical Soiree, beginning at 6pm!

A program of music featuring Har Zion’s Sasha Giannotti Guralnick as piano soloist with the New Chicago Chamber Winds Quintet. The concert features an arrangement of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 1, and additional opera and Jewish favorites for wind quintet.

Everyone attending the concert at Har Zion can be at Oak Park Temple in time for the lecture at 7:15pm. (If we arrive earlier, you can eat ice cream!)

If you have young children, you might want choose to go to Oak Park Temple instead, for the 5:30pm kids program and the lasagna dinner that follows. (Registration is required for the dinner; see below.)

At Oak Park Temple: The Tikkun Leil Shavuot program.

Traditionally, we eat dairy and study Torah all night on Erev Shavuot. The studying and eating part of our programming is at Oak Park Temple. (People attending the Musical Soiree at Har Zion will arrive at OPT in time for the 7:15pm lecture.) In person.

5:30pm – Kids program
6:00pm – Lasagna dinner (registration required)
6:30pm – Ice cream oneg (open to all)
7:15pm – Lecture
8:30pm – Service

There are morning services at 10am on the first two days of Shavuot, Wednesday, June 12, and Thursday, June 13. The temple office and building (except for the services) will be closed.
