Shavuot 5785 with Oak Park Temple
Sunday evening, June 1
It is Jewish tradition to spend the evening of Erev Shavuot eating dairy and studying Torah (all night). It is also local tradition that we observe Erev Shavuot with Oak Park Temple. This year Har Zion and OPT’s joint Erev Shavout program will be at Har Zion.
- We are planning to start our evening at 6:30pm with ice cream and singing on the Solomon Terrace.
- This will be followed, at about 7pm, with two services—one for adults in the sanctuary, and another in the chapel for children. Kids’ service will include some songs, some prayers, a story, and an activity.
- At 8pm, we will break for cheesecake deliciousness.
- The evening will conclude with adult programming featuring members of both congregations speaking on their personal Jewish practice.
Registration is not needed.
Shavuot Morning Services
There are morning services at 10am on the first two days of Shavuot, Monday, June 2, and Tuesday, June 3 (which includes Yizkor). Har Zion’s office and building will be closed (except for the services).
There is also an in-person only Shavuot service on the first day of Shavuot for children 7 and under lead by Ms. Claudine. Registration is required for the children’s service and the children must be accompanied by an adult.
