Tikkun Leil Shavuot 5786 with Oak Park Temple
Erev Shavuot Tikkun Leil Shavuot, Thursday Evening, May 21
It is Jewish tradition to spend the evening of Erev Shavuot eating dairy and studying Torah (all night). It is also our local tradition to observe Erev Shavuot with Oak Park Temple. This year our joint Erev Shavout Tikkun Leil Shavuot program will be at Oak Park Temple (1235 N. Harlem Avenue, Oak Park, IL 60302).
Schedule for Tikkun Leil Shavuot Evening
⇨ 7pm: Meet at Petersen’s Ice Cream. around the corner from Har Zion, going east from Harlem on Chicago Avenue (1100 Chicago Ave, Oak Park, 60302; directions here). Enjoy your choice of their old-fashioned ice cream. All of Petersen’s suppliers are certified kosher.
⇨ ??pm: A brief service at Oak Park Temple (1235 N. Harlem Avenue, Oak Park, IL 60302)
⇨ ??pm: Break for cheesecake deliciousness.
⇨ ??pm: Adult programming featuring clergy of both congregations speaking on Jewish topics that are of interest to them.
In person only; registration is not needed.
Shavuot Morning Services
There are morning services at 10am on the first two days of Shavuot, Friday, May 22, and Saturday, May 23 (the Saturday Shavuot/Shabbat service includes Yizkor). Har Zion’s office and building will be closed on Friday (except for the services).
Shavuot For Young Kids
There is also an in-person only Shavuot program on the first day of Shavuot for children 7. It begins at 10:30am and lead is by Ms. Claudine. Registration is required; the children must be accompanied by an adult.
