The Yiddish Hour: International Holocaust Rembrance Day
This is the first of Har Zion’s two Holocaust Remembrances. The second is International Holocaust Remembrance Day Observance, a short service and a talk on Auschwitz, on Wednesday, January 28, at 5:30pm.
Join Cantor Figa for “The Yiddish Hour,” a monthly appreciation of Yiddish song, Yiddish theater, and Yiddish wisdom.

The United Nations General Assembly designated January 27—the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau—as the International Holocaust, Remembrance Day, a time to remember the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust and the millions of other victims of Nazi persecution.
January 22, 6:30pm
For this month’s “The Yiddish Hour,” Cantor Figa marks International Holocaust Remembrance Day by sharing songs, poems, and recollections, all in Yiddish, the predominant language of the victims of the Holocaust. Hearing words written in Yiddish by those who suffered firsthand brings the listener all that closer to the experience. Comprehensive translations and commentaries will be provided.
Log on for this important commemoration of the cataclysmic 20th century tragedy of the Jewish people and all humanity.
