
Sunday Scholars
The Har Zion Sunday Scholar Series are upcoming lectures by local–and a few remote–experts on the subject they are expert in.
All of these lecture are on Sunday. The first five are at 10:15am, after minyan. The rest are also on Sunday, exactly, but they do belong in this series.

Nov. 2 – Alan Mintz on “Early American Jewish History”
Nov. 23 – Professor Gary Porton of Spertus Instituteon “Why American Jews Do What They Do”
Dec. 14 – Professor Susan Weininger on “Repairing the World: Jewish Artists in Chicago”
Feb. 1 – Rabbanit Goldie Guy on “Sap Rising: Tu B’Shevat and Spiritual Growth”
Mar. 15 – Rabbi Miriam Lichtenberg on “Why Do We Read ‘Song of Songs’ on Passover?”

Jan 18 – Dr. David Harris (professor of law at the School of Law at the University of Pittsburgh and son of Har Zion’s Ruben and Mary Harris (z”l)) on “Race and the Criminal Justice System” (7pm)
Jan 25 – Rabbi Eric Leiderman on an topic concerning Israel (10am). (Learn more from his op-ed pieces for The Times of Israel.)
Mar 22- Leah Koenig (renowed cookbook author and daughter of Har Zion’s Carol Koenig) on “The History of the Jews of Rome” (4:30pm talk, 5:30pm Roman Jewish dinner)

Scholar in Residence, Tamara Frieeman:
Dr. Tamara Freeman will be at Har Zion for the weekend of Saturday, April 18, though Sunday, April 19. She will speak at kiddush on Saturday and also on Sunday mornings. Details to come for the weekend program. Learn more about Dr. Freeman at holocaustmusic.org.
Her subject will be “Holocaust Music.”
